On a Saturday morning in March of 2003, Jim Harrell received a phone call from his doctor. The call delivered the kind of news no one wants to hear. Jim learned he had Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Better known as ALS. Or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

To most people, this sounds like it should be the end of a story. But for Jim, it was only the beginning.

What has happened since Jim learned of his ALS diagnosis will encourage people living in crises in various walks of life. With his story, people are gaining an understanding of how God works in life’s difficult situations.

"Let's Make it Count for Something"

Jim has said, “If my story … what I’ve learned and how I lived my life, benefits someone else in crisis, then it will all be worth it.”

In short, the purpose of the James M. Harrell Foundation is two-fold … to introduce Jesus Christ as the one true way to God, and to help those dealing with serious life crises.
